Dry lubrication as a solution to galling, seizing, and fretting corrosion
When two mechanical components operate under pressure and in contact with each other, they can quickly experience galling or seizing, leading to operational failure or even component damage.
Depending on operating conditions such as humidity, vibration, or salt exposure, friction between these parts can also lead to fretting corrosion.
One possible solution is to increase the hardness of metallic components. While this may improve wear resistance, it does not significantly reduce friction between contacting surfaces.
Lubrication solutions help considerably reduce friction and prevent wear on moving or rotating parts. Traditionally, lubrication is provided through grease- or oil-based products. Technical coatings offer an effective alternative to these conventional lubricants.
